Pune IPL team names MS Dhoni as the skipper
Industrialist Sanjiv Goenka has named the Pune IPL franchise Rising Pune Supergiants, and announced Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the team’s captain for the upcoming season.

But why then was Dhoni named captain only for one season?
Chennai and Rajasthan were banned following links to a 2013 corruption scandal, in relation to illegal betting and spot-fixing. While unveiling the team name and logo, Goenka said Raghu Iyer will be CEO for the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group’s sports vertical.
2016 edition of the IPL will be the first time Dhoni will play for a team other than the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. His track record in both domestic and worldwide arenas have been remarkable. “I firmly believe he will lead our team extremely well on and off the field”, said Sanjiv Goenka. The other players recruited by Rising Giants Supergiants, during the 2016 IPL draft are Steven Smith, Ravichandran Ashwin, Faf Du Plessis and Ravichandran Ashwin.
“We hope for harmony and balance in the team despite the presence of so many captains”. The likes of MS, Steve Smith and Faf du Plessis are seasoned leaders.
“I have nothing to say in this matter”, is what Goenka offered when media persons sought his view over the issue.
Goenka on Monday said he also wants his football franchise Atletico de Kolkata, or ATK, to be run by professionals.

According to espncricinfo.com, Indian cricket board’s ombudsman Justice A.P. Shah has asked Ganguly to respond, by January 28, to an allegation of conflict of interest relating to his role on the IPL governing council. “[Raghu] Iyer, previously, with Rajasthan Royals, will be joining as the CEO of the sports vertical of the group”, Goenka added.
