Bowie’s family release joint statement regarding private ceremony after singer reportedly cremated

British rock icon David Bowie revives his love story with Berlin with his first new album in a decade out in March 2013, and the city is returning his affections with fervent tributes to its adopted son.

The news followed reports by British media that the Mr Bowie had already been cremated in NY, without his friends or family in attendance.

The late David Bowie’s family is planning a private memorial service for him, and would be grateful if they could be left alone to mourn. The note also emphasises the fact that, though appreciated, no official tributes or memorials have as yet been arranged.

The starstruck teen later took to Instagram.com to post a photo of himself onstage with the singer, writing, “I had the honour of playing Tiny Dancer with @eltonjohn tonight”.
