The Spanish worldwide was sent for scans following the full time whistle, and the Press Association Sport believe that there is no fracture to his shin, just heavy bruising.

Remy is wanted by a host of Premier League clubs and has a lucrative offer to move to China during this transfer window, but Chelsea will not let the Frenchman go if it leaves them short of strikers.

Guus Hiddink says Chelsea will “start thinking in a very quick way” if Diego Costa’s injury is revealed to be serious.

Costa demonstrated his importance to the Blues yet again at the weekend when he scored a fine goal that got the struggling champions back into their contest with Everton at Stamford Bridge before setting up compatriot Cesc Fabregas for Chelsea’s second.

Hiddink on Friday suggested teams making signings in January were “desperate”.

The 27-year-old Brazil-born Spain global reported for treatment at Chelsea’s Surrey training base on Sunday, despite the squad being given two days’ off by Hiddink.

Loic Remy could start at Arsenal, with Radamel Falcao out since October with a thigh problem.

Costa has scored five goals in the five games interim manager Guus Hiddink has been in charge for, having only netted four times before the Dutchman’s arrival this season.
