The heat will start to subside slowly after sunset. However, with it being so warm and humid, any storms that fire up could produce heavy downpours, gusty winds, and lots of lightning.

Another day of scattered storms and showers is expected as moisture continues to stay in place over the state.
There is a chance of t-storms in the morning mainly along and north of I-70. Heat indices will hit 100 degrees or slightly higher by that time. Again, we could see some rain Tuesday and Wednesday, but the chance is only 20%, and that’s highest in our northern counties, so most of us will likely remain dry. It feel quite as bad as Sunday, but it’s still going to feel extremely muggy. Monday will bring a continued chance for scattered showers, but temperatures won’t be as hot with highs in the mid 80s.
The heat will gradually build back into the area through early next week. That’s fairly typical for mid-July. The beaches will be in the middle to upper 80s, with southeasterly winds at 7 to 12 miles per hour.
Any evening storms come to an end for overnight tonight as we do our usual summertime thing. Spotty storms will linger over the higher terrain, although, coverage will be limited.
