Democrat candidates clash on guns and healthcare in debate

Sanders, who polls show is almost even with Clinton in Iowa, sent shockwaves hours before the debate when he unveiled his “Medicare for All” proposal, which he said would save average American families thousands of dollars per year.

Hillary is using fear just like the GOP puppet Donald Trump to force voters to work against their own interests.

Support for Hillary Clinton among Democratic voters under 50 has tanked in the past month, according to a new Monmouth University poll.

She has gone after Sanders repeatedly for supporting a 2005 law granting gun manufacturers legal immunity and she did again Sunday night.

The top issues searched on during the debate focused on taxes, education, ISIS, minimum wage, and ObamaCare. I imagine that most presidential candidates would be willing to make such an argument if put on the defensive.

Sanders said he would back reversing the law – a change Clinton quickly called a “flip-flop”. “I do not want to see the Republicans repeal it”, she said, referring to the Affordable Care Act.

“Look back to 2008, you couldn’t have had a more intense competition between Secretary Clinton and President Obama”.

And she attacked her chief rival for the Democratic nomination, independent Sen. “It is time for our country to join every other major industrialized nation on earth and guarantee health care to all citizens as a right, not a privilege”, Sanders said in a statement.

“That’s exactly what we’re able to do based on the foundation of the Affordable Care Act, what Governor O’Malley said”, Clinton said. “The thing that really in the end ended up doing in the Shumlin plan is a technical term called the actuarial ratio, which is what percentage of total health care costs are covered by the single payer program”, Davis said.

The two tangled over financial policy, too, with Mr. Sanders suggesting Ms. Clinton won’t be tough enough on Wall Street given the big contributions and speaking fees she’s accepted.

Sanders was more forceful in this debate, raising his arms animatedly and his voice to a near-shout at times.

Clinton still beats Sanders 52%-37% overall among Democrats, though Sanders’ gains have cut into her lead, Monmouth found. And she has considerable support among important primary voting blocs.

At different points, Clinton and Sanders prefaced their criticism of one another with the phrase “in all due respect”.

“Today we remember all of his achievements, in breaking down segregation and bigotry and standing up for the oppressed peoples of our country and the world”, Sanders said.

Democratic presidential debate might not have been one-sided.

However, Trump at 34 per cent leads Cruz at 20 per cent by 14 per cent nationally. For the two hours the three fought ferociously in the prime-time debate broadcast live by NBC and simultaneously broadcast on Youtube from the Gaillard Center in Charleston, S.C. Lately, polls show Sanders pulling even with Clinton in Iowa – even leading in some cases – and that is what keeps the Clinton camp up at night.
