6400 kids singing David Bowie will give you chills

He passed away just three days after releasing his 25th studio album, keeping his 18-month battle with cancer so private that even close friends weren’t aware of his struggle.

A concert in honor of David Bowie’s life and music will be held at Carnegie Hall in New York City on March 31, 2016. The show, announced hours before Bowie’s death, was originally scheduled as a tribute show with performances of the singer’s hit songs by Visconti, Cyndi Lauper and the Roots, among others.

Bowie was named best British male at the 2014 Brit Awards – becoming the oldest recipient of a Brit Award in the ceremony’s history.

Following the news of his death on Monday, David Bowie’s fans have pored over the lyrics on his final album, Blackstar (depicted by the symbol ★), for final messages left by the great musician.

The chameleonic rocker’s death propelled sales of his back catalogue and his new album “Blackstar“, which is expected to become the first No. 1 album of his long and distinguished career. Bowie told “60 Minutes” he never liked his voice, adding that he began performing music because no one else was picking up the songs he wrote. It’s followed at No. 11 by “Under Pressure”, Bowie’s indelible collaboration with Queen, which was played more than 1.374 million times.
