Cpl. Brad Woll confirmed the arrest but could not say whether or not McLean has a lawyer. McLean is well known in the town of about 5,000 for holding charity concerts to raise money for education.

McLean and his wife Patrisha, a photographer, live in Camden.

Police were called to the 70-year-old singer-songwriter’s home early Monday morning and placed him under arrest although they have not given details on the incident other than the victim did not require hospitalization. McLean’s attorney, that time, disagreed that the school zone warning lights obliging a 15 miles per hour limit were not flashing; police said they were on. He made news this past April when his original manuscript of “American Pie” sold at memorabilia auction for more than $1.2 million.
