Butte School Receives Bomb Threat Following Threats to Courthouses

Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino said in total 26 in the state received the threats which began at 8:26 A.M. and that all schools were deemed safe. Parents were seen lining up at Teaneck High School to pick up their children after the threats.

Police are investigating whether the threats are related.

On Monday at 11:11 p.m., the Taunton Public Schools received a similar message.

Most of the students lost an entire day of instruction due to the threats, officials said.

Montana saw law enforcement and fire departments on scene at the high school. But, she added, police had stepped up their presence at each of the district’s 13 schools.

In Garfield and Leonia, the students were sheltering in place.

Ryan said his officers, joined by officers from other departments, searched the school.

Passaic County’s Clifton High School was also subjected to bomb threats via voicemail, according to Clifton Police Sargent Robert Bracken.

Arlington Police Department Chief Frederick Ryan said the threat involved exploding backpacks, and the caller indicated that students fleeing the building would be shot.

In April and September, police responded to incidents of threats against New Albany High School and preschools in New Albany, respectively, both posted on hacked social media accounts.

Authorities said they searched schools in at least nine Bergen County towns and one in Passaic County, but found no explosives. But when a middle school was threatened Tuesday, officials kept it open while police investigated with a bomb-sniffing dog. Officials in Prince William County evacuated an elementary school after a robo-call threat last week.

Other news organizations were reporting threats to schools in Sayreville in Middlesex County in New Jersey and in other states, including Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia, but it wasn’t immediately clear if there was any relationship to the North Jersey bomb scares.
