Mercedes shows off new E-Class

The new GLS is the facelifted version of the GL-Class SUV and according to the company’s new nomenclature, it is based on the S-Class sedan. Which is no bad thing, and we think the brand new E looks incredible.

The 2016 Mercedes E-Class was revealed just a week ago, and Mercedes have already got their act together with prices and specs for what is probably their most important model.

Mercedes has thoroughly redesigned the fifth generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class; it goes on sale later this month and will eventually come with a choice of eight different engines. The 0-62mph acceleration time is 7.3 seconds. It puts out a higher 255bhp and 457lb ft, granting the big E a 0-62mph time of 5.8sec.

Mercedes-Benz has announced it will launch a hydrogen-powered version of the GLC-Class crossover next year. The diesel engine will be a 2.1 liter four cylinder engine in two sets of tunes, the 220d with 168 bhp and 250d with 201 bhp. On the inside it gets a new infotainment system which is floating on the dashboard.

Opt for the entry-level E220d and you’ll get Mercedes’ new OM645 diesel engine. This model will be running on the 3.0 liter V6 engine that will be delivering about 254hp.

Mercedes is also heavily promoting the standard specification of the E-Class with SE models offering a package that extends to a Garmin navigation system, parking sensors with a reversing camera and Park Pilot self-parking system, autonomous emergency braking and 64-colour selectable LED interior lighting.

Weber, however, declined to state which model in the Mercedes-Benz lineup will serve as the basis for the electric auto or when the vehicle is expected to be released into the market. It also gets ride-height adjustment for off-roading along with driving modes like Comfort and Sport.
