Bryce Harper Says Umpire Favored Zack Greinke
Zack Greinke’s performance is bringing back memories for Mike Scioscia. And after pushing his streak to 43 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday against the Nationals, no pitcher has been this flawless since Orel Hershiser tossed a record 59 consecutive zeros in 1988. “I don’t really want to give him too much credit because of that reason, but he’s a damn good pitcher”.

Granted it was a short week with only three games after the All-Star break, but Kershaw and Greinke stood out.
This was his sixth straight scoreless start, all of them lasting at least six innings.
His next start will be against the New York Mets on Friday. Greinke now has a 1.30 ERA after his eight shutout innings against Washington.
“I stopped thinking about (such duels) a long time ago”. Greinke has now won three times, though this is his first since 2009 with Kansas City. Kershaw and Greinke combined to strike out 25 Nats in 16 innings. “When you’re getting five to six inches off of the plate, you better win the game”, Harper said, per Chase Hughes of CSNWashington.com. He said Greinke was aided by a wide strike zone by home plate ump Bill Miller on this particular day.
Los Angeles broke away with four runs in the ninth off Blake Treinen. X-rays were negative, but he’ll have a Connecticut scan on Monday….
The Nationals outfielder spoke to the media about Zack Greinke’s run on Sunday, he told them he wasn’t that impressed because the right hander is getting help from the plate umpire. Pitching around the league was so dominant that season that the mound was lowered in 1969.
Nationals: 2B Danny Espinosa was in the lineup after leaving Saturday’s game with what turned out to be cramps….
Dodgers: RHP Brandon Beachy (0-1, 6.75) makes his second start since returning from right elbow surgery on July 11.

Harper said Greinke “wasn’t that tough”, even though he had two strikeouts and a walk Sunday.
