UK lawmakers to debate on banning Donald Trump
In a House of Commons debate last night Erdington’s Labour MP said:”I don’t think Donald Trump should be allowed within 1,000 miles of our shores….Donald Trump is free to be a fool but he is not free to be a risky fool in Britain”.

The debate came after more than 500,00 people signed a parliamentary petition calling for the ban. Still, more legislators seemed to oppose banning him outright.
Under British law, any petition supported by 100,000 people – who must provide and confirm an email address – is considered for parliamentary debate.
“This is no attempt to disrespect in any way Americans or the American state”, Paul Flynn, a Labour Party member of parliament, said as he kicked off the debate in committee.
The member of Parliament for Bradford West has invited Donald Trump to visit her constituency during a debate over whether the Republican presidential candidate should be banned from entering the UK. She added that Trump’s words were “not amusing, but poisonous”.
Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh, a Muslim member of the Scottish National Party, noted that the United Kingdom government has banned plenty of people for hateful rhetoric similar to that of Trump.
But fellow Labour MP Tulip Siddiq was sympathetic to banning Trump, arguing: “I draw the line at freedom of speech when it imports a violent ideology…”
Only Minister of the Interior Theresa May can issue an order banning entry into Britain and Prime Minister David Cameron has said while Trump’s comments were “divisive, unhelpful and wrong”, he does not back the idea of barring him.
We have legislation in our country to make sure we do not let people enter who are not conducive to the public good.
Among those who have been barred from Britain include: boxer Mike Tyson, media mogul Martha Stewart, rapper Tyler the Creator, radical Muslim preachers, and the late Christian fundamentalist Fred Phelps Sr. Conservative Paul Scully said he’s never heard of someone been banned from the country “for stupidity”.
Mr Flynn said: “I believe we should greet the extreme things this man says by our own reasonableness and our own hospitality”.
“Isis needs Donald Trump and Donald Trump need Isis”, said Dromey in his speech in favor of the ban, as reported by The Guardian. “We have a responsibility for peace and security to ensure that whoever comes in and out of our country is treated in the same way”. She specifically referenced the case of two Boston brothers who told police “Donald Trump was right” when they were arrested for beating a homeless Hispanic man in August.
The petition was launched amid widespread criticism after Trump called for a ban on all Muslims entering the United States in December, and received tens of thousands of signatures in support within the first few hours.
Sarah Malone, executive vice president of Scotland-based Trump International Golf Links labeled the debate “ridiculous” and “absurd”, saying the British Parliament was setting a “dangerous precedent” and “sending a bad message to the world”.
