Cloudy, cold with a chance for snow

After a midweek warmup that will finally send temperatures above the freezing mark, including highs in the low to mid 30s through Friday, the National Weather Service says a Nor’easter is expected to come knocking on our door.

Snowfall Forecast through 6 am Wednesday: The heaviest snow with this storm is expected to remain south of the area.

Clouds will move into the region on Friday night, with a snow likely after 1 a.m. A 70 percent chance of snow is predicted, and the low will be around 22.

Wind chill factors are making it feel as if it’s in the double digits below zero throughout the north country.

Tuesday night, the chance of snow is expected to be 100 percent with 2-4 inches of accumulation possible.

With no snow on Tuesday, Madison’s January and 2016 snow total stayed at 2.1 inches, 5.8 inches below normal. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 11.

Sunday: Snow showers early, then mostly sunny.
