Is the Force with China? Star Wars heads for record
While the new figure has not been released by Disney media just yet, we do know that The Force Awakens peaked at $758.2 million on Tuesday.

It has a long, long way to go, though, before besting a very sentimental record: the domestic box office of the original Star Wars, adjusted for inflation.
Star Wars The Force Awakens has become the highest-grossing film of all time in the U.S. and Canada. Having only been in theaters for less than a month, however, it will probably be a different story when Star Wars eventually ends its theatrical run. The blockbuster also crossed its $800 million mark at the global box office on Wednesday, according to the company. Some analysts predict that “The Force Awakens” might fall short of that total.
“Avatar” from 2009 holds that record with $2.8 billion, while another film directed by James Cameron, 1997’s “Titanic”, stands at No. 2 with $2.2 billion.
“Avatar” and “The Force Awakens” are alone as the only films to have ever made $700 million in North America.
It took The Force Awakens about 20 days to zoom past Avatar.
Star Wars opens in China on Saturday, and would have to do a insane number of $788 million in the country alone for a chance to break the worldwide record.

Another day, another milestone for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to blast through with relative ease. The gross in movie sales for Star Wars is expected to reach a higher value when it hits China by January 9. “Gone With the Wind”, from 1939, remains the all-time box-office champion with more than $1.7 billion domestically in today’s dollars.
