Trump And Cruz Dominate, Clinton And Sanders Expected To Clash

“From day one we have told everyone who will listen this would be a dogfight”, said Jerry Crawford, a longtime Clinton supporter in Iowa.

Their answer: very, very carefully.

Tempted as you might be to skip it, though, this will be the final Democratic debate before the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries kick off the actual voting in early February. A natural-born chit-chatter, he was not giving interviews. His remarks to voters have been relatively subdued.

“No”, she said. “If I’m so fortunate to be the Democratic nominee, obviously I’ll run against whoever they nominate, but if it’s Donald Trump, it’ll be quite the showdown”.

According to a poll commissioned by the New York Times and CBS News earlier this week, Sanders is narrowing the gap between Hillary Clinton. Twelve percent said he makes them more likely to support Hillary Clinton, and 15 percent said less likely.

The Vermont senator has denounced his rival’s policies on trade, same-sex marriage, crime and welfare cuts.

The Clinton campaign is sensitive about this narrative and concerned about Sen.

Sanders has said his votes on gun control legislation differ from many progressives because he hails from Vermont, a state wary of regulations on firearms. “They want somebody who’s willing to stand up to the billionaires and corporate power”.

Clinton’s campaign team and her allies have grown increasingly concerned with the surprising grassroots challenge posed by Sanders.

She arrives here in the middle of a rocky stretch, all of a sudden on the wrong side of a new narrative that suggests Sanders is surging and she is weakening, facing possible defeat in the first two contests of the year.

Clinton said Friday that she has changed a great deal between her 2008 loss in the Iowa caucuses and today, telling MSNBC that she now has a “deeper sense of exactly what is going to be required” as president.

Dan Good said the event was a plus for Clinton. “We were making a lot of money”.

If you thought the political landscape couldn’t be more unsettled, think again. He also has looked back with regret on signing the 1994 crime bill, which led to tougher sentencing for drug offenses. “I have no idea.’ Yeah, we have an ongoing dialogue about it”. Such a move could severely impair the Democrat’s ability to win the female vote.

“I think you’re dodging these debates”, Fallon said of the curious timing of her appearances.

It’s an argument similar to the one he made in 2007, when Hillary Clinton was fending off another insurgent challenger: then-Illinois Sen.

The U.S. presidential primary race is getting interesting – perhaps more interesting than it has been for the past 80 years or so.

In the past week, Clinton has shifted course in apparent response to Sanders’ strong poll results.

Among women, 56 percent said it did not matter, while another 21 percent said it would hurt Hillary Clinton’s chances of winning the election. I am confident the majority of the viewers will agree with me that he is the most qualified candidate of either party now running for president. “But Bernie is telling the truth about the economy”.

It’s unclear whether Clinton’s attack will hurt Sanders.

Democrats are likely anxious not just about whether Clinton can capture the nomination – and the odds still favor that outcome – but whether she will be further damaged by the FBI investigations and whether that damage could possibly lead to an indictment, as some Republicans hope.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Saturday found that 58 percent said the former president has no effect on their support.
