The Polo hatchback which has a short wheelbase could get a boot to fit in the under 4000mm length to avail the benefit of lower taxes. The sedan enters a crowded market, where it will face competition from the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Honda Amaze, the Ford Figo Aspire, the Tata Zest and the Hyundai Xcent. Mechanically it might be similar to the Polo hatch that include 1.2-litre MPI and TSI petrol engines and the 1.5-diesel unit. It will mark Volkswagen’s entry into the highly competitive sub-4 metre sedan segment in India. The manufacturing facility now rolls out the Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento and Škoda Rapid.
