An 8-year-old terminal cancer patient from Rhode Island has become a massive celebrity in China-in a little less than a week.

“I’m just thinking before I go to heaven to try to be famous as much as I can”, he tells WPRI. His dad posted on Facebook asking for anyone in China to post pictures with a #D-Strong sign.
The normally stiff-lipped official Xinhua News Agency was also moved, writing in a unusually rapturous commentary: “Love has magic power”.
“Xu Jin, one of the earliest users to spread the message on Weibo, went to the Great Wall on the outskirts of Beijing and took photos of herself and others, posing with a sign saying “#DStrong”.
“I was touched by the boy”, she said, “he was so young but in the face of death he appeared so strong”. This hashtag has become one of the 10 trending topics on social site Weibo. “I felt obliged to do something for him”.
Well, Dorian Murray, 7, got one step closer to his goal Sunday when a group of 2,500 people gathered to show their support for him. “Thousands of people showed up on a pretty chilly day just to do this”. “They believe in me”.
