Wintry system leaves slick conditions across part of state

It’s not going to be bitterly cold, but the National Weather Service is predicting snow, sleet and freezing drizzle from Wednesday night to Thursday night. Due to temperatures remaining below freezing for our Northeastern counties and with surfaces below freezing as well, they will likely deal with some wintry precipitation to start off with tomorrow morning. Light rain will begin moving in this afternoon. Definitely the best chance for all the above will be North of us throughout Tennessee and if you are traveling for work Northward, you may want to leave extra time to travel.

“It will not take much of a drop at all for the limited impacts to become more significant…”, the statement reads.

The National Weather Service made Gwinnett part of a special weather statement on Wednesday, warning of a “cold rain event” happening over the next few days.

The forecast calls for rain and sleet before midnight Wednesday. A strong or severe storm can’t be ruled out across west Alabama on Thursday evening and overnight. The models show the deeper moisture lifting out but there is a good chance we will see snow flurries and possibly even isolated snow showers as a cold upper air trough moves overhead.
