The victor or winners of the $1.5 billion Powerball prize will be very wealthy but not a billionaire.

A lucky Clark lottery shopper won a cool $50,000 in Saturday’s Powerball jackpot drawing, the New Jersey Lottery announced on Monday. And there’s now a $1.4 billion jackpot on the horizon for Wednesday. Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Powerball tickets for the drawing until 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Additionally, the Florida Lottery would like to remind all players to please play responsibly, as it only takes one ticket to win.
Update: The Powerball lottery has now reached .3 billion after no winning numbers were drawn Saturday.
FiveThirtyEight’s Walt Hickey wrote about the proposed rule change back in July 2015, and his predictions of an increase in Powerball jackpot totals was spot on.
Powerball is played in 44 states as well as the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. To win the jackpot, players must match all five main numbers and the Powerball. Officials said the victor – who was not identified – can claim the ticket at TIoga Downs in Nichols, or at any of the Lottery’s Customer Service centers statewide. The current amount has a cash value of $930.
The jackpot has been building since November 4 and Wednesday’s drawing will be the 20th time since there’s been a victor. That Mega Millions jackpot was won on March 30, 2012, and split between three winning tickets (Kansas, Illinois, and Maryland).
How much does it cost to play the Powerball? Canadians are allowed to buy tickets for the jumbo multi-state lottery, but they are not sold in Canada.

In the past, Canadians had to cross the border to buy a US lotto ticket, the site said. The top 10 South Dakota cities for Powerball sales in the last week are Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Aberdeen, Watertown, Mitchell, Brookings, Pierre, Spearfish, Huron and Sturgis.
