5 reasons Chip Kelly can work with the 49ers
If Kelly can bring Kaepernick out of his funk and get him playing like the QB who almost guided San Francisco to a Super Bowl win, two of the punchlines of the 2015 season would have sweet redemption. “I figured him or Spagz (Spagnuolo)would have been a great pick”. Without running the 49ers personnel department – that’s Baalke’s domain – Kelly can focus on coaching. The paper goes on to note that “Kelly’s reputation around the league is tarnished”, and quoted a former player who suggested that the coach is racist.

Kelly’s introductory news conference is not expected to occur until next Tuesday or Wednesday, as he compiles his staff, according to a team spokesman. His ability to create plays with his athleticism and keep the opposing defenses on their toes are the hallmarks of what Kelly looks to do on offense. “I look forward to watching Trent (Baalke, the GM) and Chip work closely to build a team that will make us all proud”.
The Philadelphia Eagles will hire former quarterback and assistant coach Doug Pederson as head coach in a nod by owner Jeffrey Lurie to the success and environment that the team had under Andy Reid.
Kelly will be tasked with pumping up the San Francisco offense and helping the 49ers bounce back from a dismal 5-11 record. Respected guard Evan Mathis was released when he declined to participate in “voluntary” workouts because of a contract matter. Pushing former coach Jim Harbaugh out the door and promoting Tomsula to head coach was a safe, shortsighted, and, ultimately, poor decision. “You can trust me that we are going to do everything that we can to get this team back where it belongs”. They didn’t compete the way championship-caliber teams do, and personnel issues aside, a team’s effort falls directly on the head coach.
The club said Jones has not missed any practice or meetings this week.
“There aren’t many Jim Harbaughs around”, Vermeil said. Deciding on the quarterback will be a major decision for Kelly in the coming months.
During his time with the Eagles, Kelly proved that he has the X’s and O’s of the game down pat.
“Now you got that read-option with Colin Kaepernick, a guy that can get outside the pocket and a guy that can extend plays, and he’s also gonna be a threat to run”.
Kelly, predictably, took it on the chin on local talk radio.
The one area that Kelly needs to really improve upon is how he relates to his players. “He relates terribly to his players”, WIP host Glen Macnow told KNBR. You see how fast he got rid of all the good players.

Said Beasley Reece, sports director at Philadelphia’s KYW-TV and a former National Football League defensive back, said he was stunned how quickly the tide turned in terms of public opinion regarding Kelly. You watched it and thought this was the guy who would be the prototype for 21st century quarterbacks. “I was surprised how quickly – even for Philadelphia – that the emotional tide turned”.
