Paramount Pulls TERMINATOR GENISYS Sequel from Schedule
And with umpteen Avatar sequels in the works to keep him busy, theres no telling when he might have time to work on Terminator, or if hes even interested. The film was originally set for May 19th, 2017 but that spot has now been filled by Baywatch.

As for “Terminator 2”, news that the film was yanked from Paramount’s schedule doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.
Earlier, Disney said it would delay Star Wars: Episode VIII to December 2017 from its original May 26, 2017 date; now Paramount (VIA -1.8%, VIAB -2.5%) has pulled its Terminator sequel off that schedule. Narratively, critics and movie-goers both were largely unimpressed, despite a promising cast in Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke.
In fact, “Terminator: Genisys'” earned nearly four times in China as compared to its North American haul. Jai Courtney also appeared in the semi-reboot.

On the other hand, Hollywood Chamber’s Paul Chamber described “Terminator: Genisys” as a “failed” reboot which made a sequel unlikely, adding that the film was made just to create “a so-so vehicle for the aging Arnold Schwarzenegger”. Question is: will it ever get a chance to tell it? Whether or not Skydance and Paramount will still move forward with another Terminator movie now remains to be seen.
