Frey co-founded The Eagles in 1971 and co-wrote many of their biggest hits, including Hotel California and One of These Nights.

Frey died of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia in NY. The event was scheduled by local officials after learning about the death of singer and Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey.
Bette Midler said Frey’s songs perfectly captured the days of 1970s Los Angeles and country’s Tim McGraw said Frey’s music was “personally inspirational” and he leaves a timeless legacy.
Rest in peace Glenn and may God bless you and your family.
Felder joined the band in 1974 and helped write the classic song “Hotel California”.
Actor John Boylan, recalled his initial meeting with Frey and how he mistakenly believed the young Frey would be in need of musical instruction: “I had pigeonholed him as this punky kid from Detroit who wanted to be a rocker”.
One of the most successful bands of all time they had five chart-topping singles and six No1 albums led by Their Greatest Hits, which has sold 29million copies, just behind Michael Jackson’s Thriller. He also acted in a number of films and TV series, including Jerry Maguire and Miami Vice.
The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and was supposed to have been honored at the Kennedy Center last month, but the appearance was postponed because of Frey’s health.
Longtime friend and fan TRAVIS TRITT remarked via FACEBOOK, “GLENN FREY and the music he created alone and with the EAGLES have been such an inspiration to me”.
While many place The Eagles as the greatest of all time when speaking about rock-n-roll, a former broadcaster says the band did more for country music than anything. While Frey typically played the road-dog anthem on the acoustic guitar, he was no stranger to the keys; one of the band’s most well-known songs, “Desperado”, had Frey playing the piano while Don Henley sang the track in concert.

With the country-tinged soft rock giants the Eagles, and as a solo artist, Frey released 24 American top 40 singles. Leadon and Meisner departed after run-ins with Frey. “He was the spark plug, the man with the plan”. “He was amusing, strong, and generous”. His father was a vehicle factory worker; his mother, as he described it in History of the Eagles, a 2013 documentary about the band, “baked pies at General Motors”.
