Victoria Kennard, 32, of Ripley, who was six months pregnant, and two of her children, seven-year old Gabriel Barrios and his five-year old sister Rose, were found dead after the raging waters of Red Oak Creek lifted their mobile home off its foundation after a late-night storm that reportedly poured almost four inches of rain in the Ripley area. The flood swept away a mobile home late Saturday, killing three members of a family of six huddling for safety inside, authorities said.
Kennard’s fiancé, Marco Barrios, was rescued with their two other sons.
Judith Varnau, the Brown County coroner, identified the woman as Victoria Kennard. Authorities said one of the boys was found in a tree. He wasn’t home at the time. “They were just trying to make it like everybody else”.
“It was up in an instant”, Wade Linville said. Sunday afternoon, Downing and Kennerd’s family and friends searched for pictures and other mementos where the home used to sit.
Brown County emergency management director Beth Nevel (NEH’-vul) says workers will spend Monday evaluating infrastructure and home issues left by flooding. State Route 68 is closed at the 14.5 mile marker for road damage.
“We periodically get flash flooding, and get water into homes and stuff, but nothing of this magnitude”, Owens reported.
Owens said the rain also flooded streets in nearby Georgetown.

The village of fewer than 2,000 people is about an hour’s drive southeast from Cincinnati.
