According to the Wall Street Journal, Uber is preparing to launch a full-scale food delivery service called UberEats in a number of cities in the coming weeks.

Residents in each of these cities will be able to order breakfast, lunch or dinner, sans ride, from any of Uber’s partner restaurants.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Uber is looking to expand from ride-sharing to food delivery.

Restaurants are also subjected to a charge, if they wish to use Uber as one of their marketplaces. Hours of operating for Uber Eats will vary city to city. That service, which promises to deliver food in under 10 minutes, will remain separate under the name UberEats Instant. In JustEat’s case, restaurants register themselves with the service, after which meals are delivered through riders. While these services have been operating in the food delivery industry for longer, Uber’s reputation for speed and convenience could prove a unsafe combination. Uber shares part of this fee with the driver, and the company will collect an additional fee from restaurants per order.

Seeing the rise for such service and how well it has been appreciated by the public, Uber has made a decision to take things to the next level- by offering it in 10 cities in the US. However, the drivers for this service will be paid hourly and not on a per order basis.
