Eagles to hire former Calvary boss Doug Pederson as HC
Pederson, who turns 48 on January 31, is the first former Eagles player to become the team’s coach since Marion Campbell.

Kansas City offensive coordinator Doug Pederson has accepted the Philadelphia Eagles’ offer to become their coach, a person with knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press.
Pederson, who didn’t interview with any other teams, can’t be officially hired while the Chiefs are in the playoffs. The Chiefs will face New England in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this weekend.
Pederson isn’t a popular choice in a city that hasn’t celebrated an National Football League championship since 1960.
It’s entirely possible that they hire either Tom Coughlin or Doug Pederson, both of whom interviewed for the job this week. He serves under former Eagles’ head coach Andy Reid. He followed Big Red to Kansas City, rising to offensive coordinator. However, the Eagles could be violating the rules by communicating terms of the contract with Pederson, before the conclusion of his stint with the Chiefs.
The spot as Philadelphia’s top…I don’t know…eagle will be the 47-year-old Pederson’s first head coaching job above high school, and was reportedly reached after ex-Giants coach Tom Coughlin removed his name from consideration.
So this feels like more of a stale approach rather than a fresh one, and those are the reasons why Eagles fans aren’t feeling any sizzle with this hire. They have posted losing records in the past three seasons, going 6-10 the past two.
Kansas City’s season turned around when Pederson and Reid placed the offense in Smith’s hands, allowing him to adjust into and out of plays at the line of scrimmage.
I don’t know, you don’t know, and, if really pressed, maybe even Mrs. Pederson doesn’t know. So as early as Sunday the Eagles could announce Pederson as the new Head coach however, if the Chiefs win then we wait another week.
“He’s the man”, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said.

Reid declined to discuss the conversation, but said this is a great opportunity for Pederson. It’s nearly as if after Reid left Philly and was replaced by Chip Kelly, the team wanted to get back on the track they were on prior to the failed Kelly tenure. He understands defenses, what they present. But hes a relatable guy. “Guys want to play for him”. Not only did he play for the Eagles in 1999 under Andy Reid, but he was also on Reid’s coaching staff from 2009 to 2012, when Reid was sacked after an very bad 4-12 season. The two teamed up the next year when Pederson was the starter for the first nine games of the 1999 season. Coached four years with the Eagles?
