Three gunmen out of six who stormed a hotel and a restaurant in Burkina Faso’s capital last Friday are still at large, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said on Tuesday.

The mother-in-law of an American missionary confirmed Saturday that he was among those killed after al-Qaida fighters attacked a hotel and cafe in Burkina Faso’s capital of Ouagadougou. Mike Riddering, 45, was killed when terrorists attacked a cafe and hotel in the West Africa country of Burkina Faso. The dead, which included victims from 18 different countries, included the wife and young daughter of the Italian cafe owner, two French citizens, two Swiss citizens, and six Canadians.
French Ambassador Gilles Thibault said Monday that about 30 people were dead in addition to the three attackers who were killed by French forces.
Ouedraogo had accompanied Amnesty International staff and consultants on missions in Burkina Faso since 2008.
Authorities in Ouagadougou said the bodies of three assailants had been identified, but several witnesses have said they saw more than three attackers.
But Simon Compaore refused to give any further details while the investigation was ongoing.
Leila Alaoui, 33, whose pictures featured in the New York Times and Vogue magazine, and whose latest Paris art show wound up at the weekend, died of a heart attack shortly before her evacuation after being shot twice in the leg and thorax. It is a lovely archive of country’s rich traditions and aesthetics, and one well worth taking a deeper look at now, as the Muslim world wrestles with attacks on its people and culture.
“Three were killed and three others were being sought”, Mr Valls said.
She was carrying out work “focusing on women’s rights” for the group.
“They’ll attack western interested when it suits them”, said retired colonel George Petrolekas, of the Conference of Defence Associations Institute.
In both Mali and Burkina Faso cases, the militant group Al Qaeda and the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility.
A statement signed by Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, Foreign Affairs Minister, said Ghana was ready to enhance its cooperation and work together to see an end to such terrorist threats. At least three of the attackers died in the attack and dozens were wounded.
