New Poll: Trump Keeps Lead in Georgia GOP Presidential Race

NY billionaire Donald Trump still holds a commanding lead in the S.C. Republican presidential primary, but former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has risen to third, according to the state’s first poll of the year.

“We are working to unify conservatives”, Cruz told Boston Herald Radio’s “Morning Meeting” hosts Hillary Chabot and Jaclyn Cashman.

For his part, Cruz has also dished out attacks left and right against Trump as the two have locked horns for the past two weeks.

Ted Cruz is trying to shape the narrative of the GOP race for president, suggesting on Wednesday night that the “Washington establishment” has determined Marco Rubio “can’t win this race” and is now “rushing over to support Donald Trump”. “But we have to win, you know, we have to win”.

As evidence, Cruz said his campaign had raised $700,000 since Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad dissed Cruz by calling for his defeat in the Hawkeye State. Ted Cruz is “nasty” and “everybody hates” him in Washington isn’t ringing true with his Senate colleagues, who say he’s a passionate legislator – though they haven’t rushed to embrace the Texan either.

A Cruz aide sought to capitalize on Dole’s take on the race by branding him as an “establishment icon” who favored Trump over the Texas senator – an effort to cast Cruz as the true outsider candidate in the field. His rival Donald Trump insisted “there is a serious question” as to whether Cruz qualifies as “a natural born citizen”, one of the constitutional requirements for the presidency. Ted Cruz came in second place at 16.3 percent with Florida Sen.

“It’s early in New Hampshire, and there are five other candidates besides Trump who have at least a semi-credible path to victory there”, FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver wrote. Last month, Dole told Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC that he “might oversleep” on Election Day if Cruz is the nominee.

“Contrary to many party leaders’ hopes, the electability argument is not going to drag down Trump, but there may be some doubts about Cruz”, Murray said.

Trump has moved past questioning Cruz’s eligibility and is now targeting his honesty.
