The two other infiltrators were seen running away towards the Pakistani side, a combing operation is on in the area. The body of the infiltrator shot dead is on the Pakistan side of the border.
At least two other suspects managed to flee back to the neighbouring country sensing trouble.
A senior BSF official said that three intruders from Pakistan attempted to cross global border at around 6.30 am but were spotted by the alert BSF personnel patrolling the area.
A suspected intruder was shot dead early Thursday by BSF along the Indo-Pak border in Pathankot, reports said. “The three came inside 50 metres and were observed by BSF constable Girdhar Gopal, who challenged them”, said a senior BSF official.
At around 6am three suspected infiltrators entered IB near BP No.11/12 &11/13 under AOR of BOP Tash CHQ Lassian.
The six terrorists who stormed the Pathankot airbase in early January also crossed over from Pakistan and entered Punjab through this porous Bamyal sector.
