State of emergency in Pennsylvania ahead of snow

Forecasters say snow and sleet accumulations could reach 4 to 6 inches in West Tennessee.

Significant amounts of snow along with some ice accumulations are expected.

Gov. Bill Haslam’s office says all state offices across Tennessee will be closed on Friday.

Rogers says he expects outage numbers statewide to fluctuate throughout the day as a winter storm hits the Bluegrass state. Some areas of the state are forecast to receive a foot or more of snow.

Michael Dossett, Director of Kentucky Emergency Management activated the Commonwealth Emergency Operation Center in Frankfort in anticipation of the storm.

Today the NAM has some snow for Louisville but the heaviest south with a storm track from central MS to SC…what a change.

The National Weather Service is predicting a significant winter storm across the southern part of the state and into central Kentucky.

The snow is expected to really ramp up into Friday afternoon.

Tony Edwards, a meteorologist in Jackson, said six inches piled up in some mountainous counties in just two hours Friday morning. I strongly encourage everyone, except in the case of emergency, to stay off the roads and prepare for any inconvenience during this major snow event. If the storm says to the south, southern ME and New Hampshire could see up to 1 to 2 inches of snow at the most. The region is under a winter storm warning from 6:00 this evening until midnight Friday.

The National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center warns of heavy, “perhaps crippling” snow across the northern mid-Atlantic region, including Baltimore, Washington and Philadelphia, probably beginning Friday. In Memphis, where blizzard conditions are possible, salt trucks and plows are ready to clear roads of snow and ice. Some areas may experience icing and white-out conditions with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour.
