Tyrese Gibson thinks Chris Rock should step down as Oscars host
The R&B singer captioned it, “Chris Rock do the right thing make a statement – [we’re] relying on you to DO the right thing…”

On Monday, Martin Luther King Day, Tyrese went on a rant about those choosing not to protest the awards show.
Chris rock has not made a public statement regarding his stance on the matter.
Gibson took to Instagram earlier this week and questioned whether Rock should still host the award show in late February. To wit: How to celebrate the nominees while also casting derision on the nominating process, dearth of black nominees, and membership of the Academy itself. Real movies with plots, with actors, not rappers. We’re just saying, “Yo, this is not cool.’ You can’t be doing this in 2016 and act as if no one is gonna notice”. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place huh? There he found that the African American patrons had seen virtually none of the year’s Oscar-bait pictures, like “Finding Neverland” and “Million Dollar Baby”, preferring movies like the Wayans’ Bros. Of course, he’ll give an award to his wife, Kim Kardashian.
A host backing out is not unprecedented – Eddie Murphy bowed out in 2011 when friend Brett Ratner stepped down as the show producer after he came under fire for making a homophobic slur. Why have we been kissing their asses for years….Why we got to be down with them, let’s have a Black Oscars… Mark Ruffalo, who is up for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Spotlight, told BBC News that he is considering boycotting the awards over the diversity issue.
One major difference between 1996 and 2016? Twenty years ago, the group was embarassingly defensive.
As African American actors and celebrities boycott the Oscars over racial diversity issues.
And to restate why a drop in viewership is a concern for the Academy, the Oscar telecast generates by far the biggest part of the Academy’s $152 million annual revenue, and maintaining high ratings is essential to its financial success.

Najee, an outspoken critic of law enforcement, explained that he and his supporters have a list of demands that they would like to present to Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs about how “we can move forward”.
