Royal Rumble 2016 will air live on the WWE Network on January 17.

In the past, the WWE’s Royal Rumble has served as a golden opportunity for surprise appearances and victories. Who could win? Who are some of the dark horses? After the match while the LON continues their attack on the WWE World Champion, Reigns cousins The Usos came to the rescue only to be taken out. If older Royal Rumbles are anything to go by, the main event Royal Rumble match will probably take up most of the time of the event.

The Rumble match, set for Sunday at 8 p.m., is all about surprise entrants, and there is talk linking some big names with showing up at the event, as this week’s rumor roundup will show. Sami is one of the best high flying superstars on the roster, and can prove just how good he is, as the Royal Rumble match has given the high flying, acrobatic superstars the opportunity to wow the audience.

This is obviously big news, but as long as WWE hasn’t cleared him, there won’t be a chance he’ll step back into the ring.

The WWE still has a lot of options for the Rumble and Wrestlemania.

Roman Reigns overcomes the odds and retains his championship.

When WWE reached out to Styles earlier this month, their original plan was for him to debut in the Royal Rumble match as a surprise, which is why they weren’t happy that him giving his notice to New Japan became public knowledge.

The HHH title win here has been speculated for a while now, based on the main event of Wrestlemania being rumored as Reigns vs. HHH for the World title.

If this scenario plays out you have Brock Lesnar vs Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose vs Roman Reigns to headline Wrestlemania 32. His Bullet Club partners Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows won’t be able to join him for a few weeks, but by all accounts Styles is able to start with the company whenever he officially signs his deal. For the first time ever, the WWE is making its World Heavyweight titeholder – Roman Reigns in this case – put the championship on the line in the over-the-top, 30-man Rumble itself.

This goes without saying, but WWE can’t afford any setbacks for its new baby face.

The sure thing about Sunday’s event, though, is the absence of three of the best performers to date due to their injuries – Cesaro, John Cena and Seth Rollins.

Triple H – The dark horse of this year’s match as we don’t even know if he will enter.

The ’92 Rumble match had a star-studded lineup that also included Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Jake Roberts, Sgt. Slaughter and Kerry Von Erich. This is all contingent on medical information that’s either pending or being kept under wraps, but if there is a god in wrestling heaven (or one at all), then this is the miracle she’s obliged to perform.
