He likewise said that a dog first tasted any food given to Guzman, to stop the offender from being poisoned.
Guzman, of the Sinaloa cartel, was captured on January 8 after his second escape from a Mexican maximum security prison.
While on the run, Guzman met secretly with Hollywood A-list actor Sean Penn at a jungle hideout – a move the Mexican government says was “essential” to his capture.
The federal AG’s office said Wednesday night that Sanchez’s transfer from Sinaloa to Mexico City stemmed from a subpoena issued as part of a probe into allegations that she entered the Altiplano I maximum-security prison to visit Guzman using fake ID.
He explained the dogs have also been trained to recognise El Chapo’s scent to prevent him escaping for a third time.
The PAN, for its part, said last week that Sanchez no longer belonged to the party, noting that in 2013 she had run as a candidate of a multiparty alliance that included the center-left Party of the Democratic Revolution, or PRD, and the PAN, among others.
She’s denied having a relationship with all the drug lord.
According to Mr Guerrero, Guzman “will have to give us a divorce certificate [from his previous marriage] and then he has to demonstrate the common-law marriage” in order to be allowed to see Ms Coronel.
While Guzman awaits possible extradition to the United States, the government has taken extraordinary measures to prevent a new escape at the Altiplano, which nobody had broken out of until his henchmen dug a 1.5km tunnel to set him free.
Metal rods were woven closely together under the floor to prevent another tunnel entrance like the one that opened into Guzman’s cell shower.

Two elite guards now keep watch on Guzman 24 hours per day, with a camera on top of their helmets.
