The Atlantic Coast Conference moved two basketball games involving No. 13 Virginia because of the storm.

The Capitals do have Monday and Tuesday available on their schedule before facing off with the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, which is their final game before the All-Star break. And in Rhode Island, a women’s game between visiting Yale and Brown was switched from Saturday to Friday. The game had been set for Saturday afternoon.

Washington could be hit by 2 feet or more of snow by what the National Weather Service called a “potentially crippling winter storm”.

The ACC said the Syracuse at Virginia game scheduled for noon on Saturday will instead be played at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Charlottesville, Virginia, area is under a heavy snow warning through Sunday morning, with significant accumulations expected.

Tomorrow’s Wizards-Jazz game has also been cancelled.

The decision follows a last-ditch move to save the game on Thursday that pushed the start ahead two hours from 7 p.m.to 5 p.m. But with the Ducks needing to get to Detroit for tomorrow night’s game against the Red Wings, and locals reluctant to fearless the elements for a mere game, the league opted to play another day.
