Obsidian Entertainment Would Love To Work Again On The Fallout Franchise

Okay, so that headline might be wishful thinking on my part but today Eric Fenstermaker – one of Obsidian Entertainment‘s lead writers – did respond really rather positively to a question on future work on the Fallout franchise.

Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment expressed great interest in returning to the franchise before Bethesda Softworks revealed Fallout 4. Truthfully, with so many people expanding upon Obsidian’s take on the action-RPG with mods, be it the unofficial DLC known as Autumn Leaves or the massive undertaking of Project Brazil, it’s obvious that folks are huge fans of New Vegas and want more. We would for sure, although it is a bit hard to foresee Bethesda repeating the same Fallout 3 post launch formula, filled with additional contents and a completely new spin-off, the beloved and acclaimed Fallout: New Vegas, at this point.

Interestingly enough, Fenstermaker’s tweet seen below echoes sentiments both his studio and Bethesda have made in the past.

Obsidian developed “Fallout: New Vegas” right after “Fallout 3” was released. I think most of us generally are. If Obsidian Entertainment can indeed secure permission to work on another “Fallout” game, then it’s likely that it will not be ready until sometime around 2017, according to Forbes. The news came from an apparent reply from one of the members of Obsidian Entertainment to a fan who had asked him on Twitter regarding the possibility of the studio in coming up with yet another “Fallout” title. Chicago? New Orleans? Perhaps somewhere outside of the United States for once?
