Two people are dead after a bank robbery in Eufaula Thursday morning. The gunman was then fatally shot by police.
Weber said Norris allegedly took a customer hostage and left with her in his getaway vehicle, per the Tulsa World.
Officials say a bank president was shot to death during a robbery in eastern Oklahoma and the suspect was killed after a auto chase and exchange of gunfire with police. The suspect in their case reportedly committed a bank robbery, killing the bank manager, and fled in the Irving victim’s stolen vehicle.
Weber said an OHP trooper intercepted them as they were driving north on Highway 69 at Road 3 near Checotah.
The second suspect was also shot but was rushed to the hospital and is expected to recover. The hostage was wounded in the shootout between Norris and authorities after the robbery. Vincent also added that the state trooper, along with two different police agencies were involved in the fatal shoot-out with the suspect. It was unclear whether she was shot by the assailant or injured by gunfire from law enforcement, Weber said.
Peterson, 64, was described “a great man” by Robert Simpson, the bank’s owner, following his death.
Norris has lived in Oklahoma for quite some time and has had numerous outstanding convictions for not only robbery but for other crimes as well. Authorities said the female hostage was seriously injured, according to The Oklahoman.
