After Aamir, SRK, Karan Johar makes controversial remark

“Democracy is the second biggest joke I think”, he ranted, admitting that he is constantly afraid of being slapped with a legal notice. Recently, Aamir Khan landed into the controversy when while talking about “intolerance” he said, “Kiran and I have lived all our lives in India. So I have become like some kind of an FIR king now”, he said, touching the topic of the FIR that was lodged against him for hosting the infamous AIB Roast.

“I make movies. I fight megalomaniac movie stars every day”. He further added, “I am a filmmaker and I don’t even have freedom of expression”. Reminding his audience that he has never openly said he is gay – “I have not yet revealed (that)”, he said in Jaipur – he stated, “Revealing in today’s time will land you in jail…we’re in a tough country to speak about your personal life”. “They are illiterate”, said Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

“We can’t write anything, say anything and yet we have to be democratic”, he said.

The Cold war went to an extent where, Shah Rukh Khan completely ignored Karan Johar during an award ceremony. He also said he appreciated endeavours made by politicians like Shashi Tharoor who had brought up the bill in the last Parliament session. The director, who has geared up for his next upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, spoke about intolerance row, his upcoming films and also on his friendship with Shah Rukh Khan. The former Army chief was asked to react on Karan’s remark that “India is a tough country to express one’s views with a legal sword always hanging over the neck”.
