The meeting was attended by Corps Commander Peshawar, Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, DG Military Intelligence (MI), director general of military operations (DGMO) and DG ISPR among other high-ranking officials of the Pakistan Army.

Hours after the attack on Wednesday, DG ISPR Lt Gen Asim Bajwa in a media briefing had shared that two cell phones which were in terrorists’ use had been seized.

Bajwa also said the commander of the terrorists was in Afghanistan. Asim Bajwa revealed how suspect Adil had provided the terrorists with a map of the university. “And Adil is the one who helped the attackers figure out their way into the university”. Another terrorist by the name of Ameer Rehman had been identified by NADRA, he said.

The Pakistan Army Chief said an operative of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) issued instructions to the terrorists in Charsadda from a location in Afghanistan. The reporter asked him if the terrorists inside the university were suicide attackers. “Noorullah, who bought an auto rickshaw, transported terrorists to sugarcane fields near Bacha Khan University in Charsadda”. He briefed the media that the goal of today’s press conference was to inform and update everyone regarding the progress in the investigation of the attack on Charsadda’s Bacha Khan University on January 20.
