Swansea boss speaks about Borini-Ayew swap deal

Only bottom side Aston Villa have scored fewer goals than Swansea this season and Curtis has assured fans that new players are imminent.

The Sun is reporting that the Wearside club have offered Fabio Borini and Jordi Gomez to Swansea City in exchange for their front man Andre Ayew.

Sunderland have had a bid of £14m for Ayew, 26, rejected and they are thought to be considering Borini, 24, in any fresh offer.

“Fabio is probably one of a number of players whose names have been mentioned”.

“Me saying I’m willing to use Fabio would upset Fabio; me saying that Ayew is definitely someone I want for this club means that Swansea could say I have upset this player by saying that I actually want him”.

The Swans’ Premier League rivals Sunderland remain keen to bring Ghanaian ace Ayew to the Stadium of Light but the Liberty hierarchy say it’s a non-starter.

“Andre will not be allowed to leave so certainly he is out of the equation, although whether he was part of any deal being talked about, I don’t know”.

Curtis also confirmed a loan deal for Liverpool’s Joe Allen was being considered, but said he was not aware of any interest in Blackburn’s Jordan Rhodes. “We will look to exploit their weaknesses and hopefully we can take advantage of a lapse in concentration at the back”, Curtis added.

That’s despite the arrival of new head coach Francesco Guidolin just 11 days after Curtis was put in charge until the end of the season.

“I can understand it. If I was looking from the outside I would say this is a club in turmoil”, he said.

“It was really impressive, considering he’s got a limited amount of English”.
