Clinton TV ads hammer guns in NH, shy away in Iowa

“Bernie, Hillary, and Martin: you are running for the highest office in the land; the most influential in the world”, the Democrats wrote in a letter to the candidates.

Political attacks in every direction… She and her strategists underestimated Mr. Sanders’s appeal, the strength of his campaign and his ability to raise money. On Tuesday night’s episode of the Rachel Maddow Show, the candidate told Maddow that he didn’t lose any sleep over losing the nonprofits’ endorsements to Hillary Clinton because they, like her, are “part of the establishment'”. It’s – it’ll be aired in – up here in New England where the electorate is largely – the Democratic electorate is largely white. Tam, does Hillary Clinton have any big names with her right now? Gun-control spots made up less than 6 percent of the more-than-5,100 broadcast TV ads she’s aired in Iowa over the past month.

“Without naming any names, Goldman Sachs also provides very, very generous speaking fees to some unnamed candidates”, he said this week in Iowa, meaning her.

“Sanders organizers seem to be making some headway”, said Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, who says he’s likely to endorse Clinton. “She has a record of taking on the gun lobby and an agenda including comprehensive background checks, cracking down on illegal gun traffickers, holding dealers and manufacturers accountable when they endanger Americans and keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and stalkers”. The first votes in the race for the presidential nomination will be cast in a little over a week.

The latest polls show sanders up by 27 percent in New Hampshire, and within striking distance – just two points behind Hillary Clinton – in Iowa.

Over the past few months, Katy Perry, Lena Dunham, Abby Wambach and “Scandal” star Tony Goldwyn have all hit the trail on Clinton’s behalf – a move meant to woo youth voters, many of whom have rallied behind Sanders. His ads have nearly exclusively focused on economic and health care issues.

Only one Democrat has ever won the nomination without winning at least one of the first two states: Bill Clinton during his 1992 White House run. Still, some Clinton supporters are already thinking New Hampshire might a lost cause. “The real issue is who can win the election, who is prepared to do the job and who can make real change”, said the Former President.

In New Hampshire, Clinton is broadcasting an ad particularly targeted in the media markets of southern New Hampshire and suburban Boston where Scala said Clinton will need to motivate voters to win the primary.

Clinton, Johnson said, had not been as consistent in his mind and, at times, makes people feel like it is “her time” to be president.

Perhaps the only time it has come up in Iowa was after a speech hosted by the Jewish Federation of Des Moines in September. Just days before Iowa votes. Anyone who has been paying attention knew this day was a long time coming and Clinton’s campaign all but telegraphed the attack plan last week when she began going negative in her stump around Iowa and in the ads on daytime television following the Brown and Black Presidential Forum.
