Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, while interacting with Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) students on Saturday, answered various queries of students relating to country’s economy.
Rahul also blamed the BJP for the stalling of the passage of the GST Bill, saying the ruling party was unwilling to compromise. “Jaitley doesn’t have to tell me GST is good”. I know its good.
Talking about the demands by the Congress regarding the Bill, he asserted that the most important issue was that there should be a cap on taxes and demanded a limitation on the maximum tax that can be charged on the people. The Mumbai Regional Congress Committee president, Sanjay Nirupam, and former Member of Parliament Priya Dutt were among those who accompanied him, alongside at least 5,000 party workers. “You will fail on the economy and start up front if you are intolerant”, he said.
Incorporating that their need that was next wasn’t a large problem, he explained the needs from the Congress were reasonable and guaranteed the evening their conditions were approved, the GST Bill could be handed in fifteen minutes.
Citing examples, he said the Congress party brought and encouraged a culture of tolerance in the country, people were free to discuss ideas which ultimately culminated in the freedom movement. “Intolerance and startups can’t go together”, Gandhi said. “I don’t think it’s wrong of us to say that”.
He said the RSS has an exceptionally “unbending vision” for India and that new companies require free movements of thoughts.

“A party whose leaders shed tears on the bodies of terrorists, address terrorists with respect, repeal POTA soon as they come to power and raise questions about the martyrdom of police officers in Batla House encounter have no moral right to speak on terrorism”, said the BJP leader reacting to Rahul’s statements on the operation at Pathankot airbase. Rahul asked students not to put labels on people, things and industries. “I don’t categorize. That’s the difference between us and them”, he said. “The biggest problem India is facing today is massive centralisation of power. If you are a big business, you can get around regulations and put pressure on politicians”, he said.
