Winners of $1.6 billion US Powerball jackpot still officially unknown
At least three mystery winners in California, Florida and Tennessee will split a world record $1.6 billion lottery jackpot, which tempted millions of hopefuls across the United States to try their luck.

But John Robinson and his wife, Lisa, said they won’t stop working and won’t make any wild purchases.
For every $1 worth of Powerball sales, half goes to prizes, 40 per cent is earmarked for things such as education, and ten per cent goes to retailers who sell the tickets and administrative costs, Grief said. She woke up to a text from a fellow Tiny Tornado saying one of their tickets matched all five white ball numbers in order, 8-27-34-4-19, but not the Powerball number of 10.
A Tennessee couple that won a share of the $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot says they plan to return to their jobs after winning the mammoth prize.
The couple’s lump sum payout is about $327 million after buying the ticket for Wednesday night’s drawing at a grocery store in their west Tennessee hometown of Munford, population 6,000.
Robinson said he and his wife were excited about their winnings but were “a little scared” about their future.
John Robinson said they also want to help out certain friends, give some money to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, and donate to their church. “I don’t want that now”, Lisa Robinson said.
Robinson’s daughter said she wants a horse because her dad always said that if they won the lottery, she’d get one. Tennessee officials did not immediately say which of the three Munford stores offering Powerball tickets produced the victor.
Casey’s will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $2 million-winning ticket at one of its stores.
Robinson carried the precious slip of paper to New York City and back before showing up at Tennessee’s lottery headquarters. Once she realized their numbers matched, she ran over to where he was asleep on the couch and told John Robinson to check the numbers himself.
The owner of that ticket from Chino Hills has not come forward or been officially identified.
The three jackpot winners can leave their winnings to be invested and thereby collect 30 annual payments totalling an estimated $533 million, or take their third of $983.5 million in cash all at once.
That’s where the story grows hazy: The nurse was said to be at the facility, the Park Avenue Healthcare and Wellness Center in Pomona, when the numbers were announced. It’s unclear what the accounts are hoping to accomplish, but many had collected thousands of followers.
Her reaction was that she didnt believe it. She then pulled out her ticket and reviewed it with two other nurses number by number, said a co-worker. “You know what happens”.
“I’m very proud that the ticket was sold here”, the clerk, M. Faroqui, told the San Bernardino Sun.

He did, four times, then thought: “Well, I’ll believe it when the news comes on in the morning”.
