Pochettino: I won’t risk unsettling Tottenham squad

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Four Four Two that his mistake over signing Pablo Osvaldo at Southampton is impacting his plans at White Hart Lane.

Townsend has found himself out-of-favour this season and has not played for the club since clashing with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner in November.

The Magpies have been monitoring the 24-year-old England winger throughout the January transfer window, and are believed to be keen to bring him to St James’ Park.

Obviously the market is going increasingly insane but even taking that into account, on what Andros Townsend has actually “achieved”, £14m is very insane.

“It’s always about rumours but it is true that it’s obvious when some players are not too much involved in the games, the player always wants to play and try to find the solution”. “Or if we have the possibility to sign Messi or Neymar, it’s impossible to say no. The problem is when you bring a some player who is a normal player, who isn’t a good man and you say: ‘For what?’ We need to bring a player with the right profile and enough quality to improve the squad. Then you can use every player that you have in the squad”.

“Some players don’t deserve to miss out, but it’s impossible because you can only pick 18”.

“It was important for him to score against Leicester”, said Pochettino of Son.

The comments follow revelations via Football Leaks that a clause in the agreement which saw Bale move to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2013 would allow the north London club to hijack any deal for the Wales global if and when he leaves the Spanish capital – should they match the offer made by a rival club.

‘We took the decision to pull him out of the changing room because I have to have discipline.

“The players and the squad are very focused, to be ready, to prepare and to compete”.

“Our players know the rules, I’ve explained the same thing from the first meeting before the season – you sign for Tottenham for training”.
