LG to launch ‘playful’ flagship phone in February

With CES 2016 now over, we’re already looking forward to the Mobile World Congress 2016, and LG is game for it. An e-mail invite that is also doing the rounds confirms that we’ll see a new flagship.
LG has today begun sending out invites to its MWC event.
The render also shows a rear mounted button, though it strays from previous LG G series designs of the rear mounted keys and more into the round fingerprint sensor on the latest Google Nexus phones – but this is only a render, so take it with a grain of salt. That’s earlier than expected considering the G4’s April 2015 announcement, but it’s not uncommon for LG to tinker around with timing.
The bottom piece of the phone does still seem to house functional connections like the microSD port and microphone, so it could be accurate to say that LG might have the first mainstream modular smartphone on the market by the time it’s out (even if its modularity isn’t as flexible as something like Project Ara).
