There is a likelihood of a meeting of PDP today amid the party’s assertion that BJP should communicate whether it was willing “implement” what has been agreed in the “Agenda of Alliance” of previous year.
A senior BJP minister also revealed before the Rs 80,000 crore package was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi PDP ministers always focused on relief and rehabilitation package for Kashmir valley. PDP leader Naeem Akhtar said, “During the meeting, we will also review the achievements of the past 10 months of the coalition government under the Mufti”. Here, he referred to issues such as return of power projects to J&K, developing smart cities, return of land under use of armed forces. “Everything has been sorted out”, he said putting to rest speculation that anything other than the customary mourning period for the late Mufti Sayeed is the reason behind delay in the decision.
After assembly elections threw up a fractured verdict the PDP, which had the most seats at 28 but was well short of 44, the number needed to form government, tied up with party number 2 the BJP to form government. “The Congress is trying to give an impression that this alliance will break but we don’t think the PDP is rethinking its alliance”, he said.
The issues believed to be nagging the PDP leadership range from Sayeed not being given proper respect when he passed away in Delhi on January 7 to meagre flow of funds from the Centre to the state which is now under a spell of Governor’s rule.
“The terms of alliance already worked out will continue to govern the relationship between the two parties in the next government”, he asserted. PDP needs to explain why it surrendered these issues for 10 months & still praised coalition, Mr Abdullah said in a tweet.
