The rally in Columbia is one of many planned nationwide recalling the legacy of King, who was assassinated in 1968. In remembrance of Doctor King, he and leaders of the Lighthouse are calling for organizations across the city to open their doors, hearts, and time to help the youth.

“Me and my best friend would not be best friends, because Martin Luther King, Jr. saved us, because black people wouldn’t be talking to white people, and white people wouldn’t be talking to black people”, she said.
