Ant-Man star Paul Rudd talks about the Clueless musical and filming
If you don’t know what to expect from a movie called “Ant-Man“, let me put you at ease.

In a recent interview that aired on Entertainment Weekly Radio, Sirius XM 105, Reed begins with speaking on where his interest for the character came from. The choice of Peyton Reed as director, replacing Edgar Wright, had sent the fanboys and the internet all up in uproar.
“The Marvel cinematic universe can be an awfully big, noisy and repetitive place to spend your time and money”, said the Variety trade magazine.
The film follows Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a master thief-turned-superhero who keep baddie Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll) from misusing the same technology that helps turn Scott into Ant-Man for evil. Okay, what he figured out was a way to decrease the distance between molecules allow for objects to shrink. Coming into this movie I wasn’t too excited; I couldn’t fathom how to make a movie about a miniature superhero interesting. This is the first movie that is a hand off of a costume/hero from one to the next. Future Marvel movies might answer that question! But like most Marvel movies, I was intrigued and pulled in instantly.
Fresh out of prison, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is a cat burglar with a social-justice conscience and way behind on child support payments. You get him, you understand what makes him tick and he doesn’t feel like he’s there just because a bad guy is needed. It’s fun and will make you smile! From the fittingly heroic theme to the surf-tastic closing number “Tales to Astonish!” (named for the comic in which Ant-Man made his first appearance), Beck’s music perfectly reflects the genre-layering story, really working a ideal balance of whimsy and peril, criminal and hero. Bullets the size of Buicks whizzing by him. It’s smart and amusing, with a great story and fantastic action. But this movie is grounded in the MCU from the start.
Darren became obsessed with the supposed myth that the Pym particle exists and sets to develop it himself, with the goal of creating an army of insect-sized armies to control the world. As those who’ve seen the film know, this encounter results in Falcon looking for Ant-Man at the end of the movie. The ex-wife isn’t awful, the new boyfriend isn’t a jerk… overall.
Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly both deliver wonderful performances and give a heartfelt look into their struggling relationship as father and daughter.
Family discussion: Why did Dr. Pym trust Scott?
Whether it was his big break in “Clueless” or joining the legion of actors who have a super hero character on their resume, Rudd is just excited that he has been able to go from a theater major at the University of Kansas to being a paid actor.

“I enjoyed the fact that when I was cast, people went, ‘huh, really?’ That you wouldn’t necessarily think that”, Rudd says.
