Pearl Jam rounds up $300000 donation for Flint efforts
In April of that year, the city started drawing its water from the Flint River, rather than from Detroit. Residents have complained of vomiting fits, rashes and hair loss as a result of the foul-smelling water.

The outrage over the crisis has led to an outpouring of support and donations, including some from high-profile stars and MI natives.
On Friday, the popular 90s band Pearl Jam announced they would be donating $300,000 to the Flint water crisis, specifically United Way of Genesee County’s Flint Water Fund. The fund is on Crowdwise and they are encouraging all to donate. “It’s such a big problem, and the government is doing the wrong thing”. The grunge band also launched a crowdsourcing campaign online that will benefit the Flint Child Health and Development fund. Its total now sits at $21,000. Big Sean‘s campaign has already garnered over $15,000 in fan donations, and he’s offering donators the chance to meet him on his unannounced fall tour.
Meek Mill is also stepping up to help Flint.
Pearl Jam has jumped on board in the aid to help Flint with its water crisis.
“Monetary donations will first be used for the purchase of water filters, bottled water, emergency support services and prevention efforts in Flint, Michigan”.

Funds will be donated to The United Way of Genesee County’s Flint Water Fund, which serves both the immediate and long-term needs of the community. Flintkids.org, a partnership with several local groups, is raising money to support children’s health initiatives and children’s hospitals in the area.
