Police have also searched ponds near Bur Oak Secondary School for any sign of Brown.

Her brother told CBC News that Brown had been taking medication for bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia, but had recently had gone off her medication because she believed she could heal herself through faith. Furthermore, he added that his mother is in shock following the devastating discovery.

“I don’t think any parent should ever have to go through this with their child.”

The body is still under the ice, and police are making efforts to recover it while they await the coroner’s arrival.

“I don’t know. We have no suspect information here”. Fred Moffatt said at an afternoon news conference. “All we are doing is following the leads we have”, Supt. According to her family, she said she’s “headed outdoors for some fresh air” before she left.

After leaving the residence, police believe Brown walked to Bur Oak Secondary School, where she briefly spoke with a man who had noticed that she wasn’t properly dressed for the winter weather and asked her if she was alright.

Police have not yet confirmed the victim’s identity, but said the victim’s clothes match the description of those Brown was last seen wearing.

Officers will conduct another ground search for Taneesha Brown on Saturday.

The third ground search for a missing Markham woman brought closure for a distressed family.
