Thankfully, Trevor survived the surgery, and when he emerged from the operating room, his first few words were utterances, not of pain or suffering, but of unbridled joy.

Finally a donor heart became available, and Trevor underwent the lifesaving transplant last November – but it’s his wonderful reaction when he woke up after the operation and realised he was still alive that has the world talking.
In the video, posted to the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Facebook page, the boy can be heard saying, “I’m so happy”.
His family said they are continuing their work to promote organ donation. “I’ve been waiting so long”.
In the video, a tearful Trevor tells his parents: ‘I’m so happy. I feel fine after recovery.
Trevor’s dad ended up sharing the video to Gift of Life Michigan’s Facebook page on January 19 where it has already garnered more than 1,100,000 views.
“Honestly, for me, I didn’t know what to expect”.
“I really like the video, actually”, he said, adding that he had asked his mum, Kimberly, to hit record the moment he woke. He’s still recovering, but has not had any complications with his new heart. Trevor wasn’t the only one feeling big emotions after the surgery.
Trevor’s father said that his son’s heart has enlarged to such an extent that it was putting weight on Trevor’s lungs.
Trevor’s health problems began in Detroit in September 2014 when he said that he “didn’t feel good” out on his school’s football field, according to ABC News.
In April, Trevor’s dad told MLive.com that his son’s name was “at the top of the [transplant] list”.
