Paris’ father Rick Hilton announced the passing of Monty Brinson, who was married to Paris’ aunt Kim Richards for three years in the 1980s, in a post on Instagram.com on Sunday night (24Jan16). Kim posted a photo of her and Monty on her birthday with a heartfelt message, “Having you here Monty is the best gift of all”. Over the past couple seasons of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, we’ve seen Richards care for Brinson as he moved in with her while battling the disease. “His heart was as big as the moon and he was loved by all he met”. Our thoughts are with Kim during this hard time. Richards and Brinson share one daughter, Brooke Brinson.
Despite the former child star’s ongoing legal issues, including her battle with alcoholism, the pair stayed close and their lasting friendship was long documented on the Bravo series. “I love you so much”. “Too much love inside me to give up”. Monty suffered from lung cancer for years, and in November 2014, it was confirmed that he had developed a brain tumor. You can’t help but love Monty. So I will be celebrating Christmas in the hospital this year. “He’s a good solid guy”, she told People at the time.
Richards was equally supportive of Brinson, taking to Twitter on Friday, January 22, just days before he died, to thank fans “for all the love and prayers for Monty!”.

“I’m going to be stronger than ever and over come this”, Brinson added. Last week he wrote, “Even though I’m facing death eye to eye which instead of being being scared or pity I’m imbracing it as I go forward with this journey”.
