Now it’s happening again, but the links will force your iPhone to reboot, crash Safari on the desktop, or cause Chrome to hang endlessly.

It even causes Android phones to heat up and slow down. The website will reportedly will crash your browser or even the device itself, forcing a reboot of your mobile device, according to Global News.

If you are wondering why anyone would visit a website that crashes their device it’s because most people are probably being tricked with a shortened URL.

The website populates the address bar of whichever browser is your default (so using Google Chrome still leaves you vulnerable) with a huge string of text that is hard for devices to efficiently process. Doing so will indeed crash your browser, but there isn’t permanent damage.

The website does exactly as its name suggests, (which is www.crashsafari.com), and takes down your Safari.

This latest bug comes just months after a text message caused issues for Apple iPhone users. Annoying is what it really is, so you best keep an eye out since people are circulating this link through social media by disguising it with a short URL.

The link is simple and self explanatory, crashsafari.com, and it performs as advertised. If you click the link on Android phone, it begins heating up after about 20 seconds and has problems completing basic commands.

You already know not to click or tap on suspicious-looking links, but URL shorteners are making that a little more complicated today. Should the worst happen, it appears that smartphones will behave normally after a reboot.
